Define the initial scope and rationale for the product or service under consideration.
1. Interview the individuals with the original product or service concept.
2. Create a textual description of the problem as described by the originator of the concept.
3. Research the problem domain to get a feel for the environment / ecosystem of the product concept.
4. Interview experts in the domain area of the proposed problem.
5. Update and review the problem statement with the concept originator.
• The problem statement should not contain any solution-domain concepts.
• The problem statement should be short and to the point (it is not intended to be a business case for investment purposes!)
• The problem statement should be easily understood by anyone, even lay-persons in the problem domain.
